No Goose just Moose

Image
I spent four years going to Yellowstone on vacation driving around and asking people if they had seen any Moose. I also made several trips into Grand Teton NP and was never able to spot a Moose. I mean they are HUGE, but I could not find one. I had also made several trips here in Washington to find them. Then one day I found a place that claimed there were a steady population of Moose. I went there and found Moose just inside the reserve. In the back of my head I told myself that now that I had found them, I would find them in Yellowstone, and I was right. Monday morning I headed to Lamar Vally then beyond because I knew that there was a good chance that I could find a Moose there. I not only found a Moose I found two. Those were the only Moose I seen in the park, but not all I seen on my trip. I stopped for the night in Ennis MT. A local there told me that I could find Moose if I drove the lake. So that afternoon I did just that and I found this young lady. The n

Bighorn Sheep

So here is the next post. Bighorn sheep. I wiated to do this post in hopes of getting a few shots of Rams, but I never did see any. So here are the Ewes and Kids I did find. They were right off the side of the road as I came out of Hayden Vally in Yellowstone. One of the Kids was hidden and as I was taking pictures of its mom it jumped out from behind some brush so its a little blurry, Its mom has a radio collar on as they monitor them like all the other spiecies in the park. Many photographers don't like that they do it as it takes away from the photo. I think its great. It helps protect and gives us a ton of info on them. So here are the photos. I'm down at my Daoughters house for a couple days with plans on getting some Sea lion photos. then in day or two I will make my way North towards home. Its been a great trip with some awesome photos that are yet to come. See ya

For 7 "Bucks" I will

So last night I stopped in Ennis Montana for the night. I drove the local lake and snapped a few pictures of some deer (Pluse a few other animals for another post). This first shot has Seven Bucks in it. I don't think I've ever seen that many in one place. There were a few Fawns that were by the road. Now I was here in July and there were Fawns they were new born to a few weeks old. So by now they should be spot free... But this place is... Strange. Lets start this off with twin Fawns. Now I said this place was strange and I wasn't kidding, look what else I found. Post will be comming in often, I'm still out and about. I'm at Turnbull in the morning then heading south after a trip around the park. See you in the next post.

Just "Bear" with me on this post

Today I left Yellowstone, but before I left I wanted to hit Lamar Valley one more time. A friend wanted a head shot of a Bison and I thought I would see if I could catch a Bull by the road. That never happened, in fact the Bison were way way out there. So I headed back to where I hadd seen some Moose the day before (Those pictures will be comming soon enough). I had almost gotten to the spot when I had to slam on my breaks. There were about six cars stopped in the road. Now if you've ever been to Yellowstone you know that this is a no no. But I had to stop, there were cars in both lanes. I looked up and this is what I saw. He was tossing rocks down the side of the hill and onto the road. What ever he was eating he must of liked it. Here are a few more shots. He was soaking wet as it was raining pretty good. I will be posting a lot over the next week or so (or longer) I have taken so many photos and I'm only Three days into a Twelve day Vacation. I'll b

Gardiner/Yellowstone NP Day one

I arrived in Gardiner Montana around 1:30pm on Sunday. Check in time at the Hotel wasn't intil 4pm, so I headed out to Lamar vally. It was raining which I had figured it would be, what I didn't figure would be the lack of wildlife. Sure I seen about 20 Elk and they were real close, but as they live on the lawn at Mamoth hot springs that wasn't a big surprise. There were a few heards of Bison but they were way off in the distance. I managed to catch a few that came close to the road on my reurn trip though and got a few photos taken. (I'll post a couple down below.) I did how ever get some good shots of some Pronghorn Sheep. There was a small heard of about 6 Ewes and one Ram. I also did a couple slow motion videos of the Ram and I posted one to Failbook and I'll post the other one here. The one I'm posting here is a better video as it shows the fall colors in the background. So I'll do the video first then post a few photos. Here are a few still
