Adventures with Duck

I'm skipping ahead a post Manley because I've been to busy to get through all the photos I took last week. Today I really did't take that many photos but those I did take counted. This bird I had chased over 2 states. Merlin would pick it up, but I couldn't ever locate it. As you can see today I broke the spell. This next bird isn't a new one but it is one that I had to chase. If you havebeen following me for awhile you will remember that I had to chase Moose for about a year before i was able to get a photo, then the dam busted and I waas seeing them everywhere. well this guy is like that. The Brown Creeper is now everywhere I look. its out on the trails I hike and even at my camp! The reat of my hike was pretty good, here are some of the rest I took. Oh and a bonus shot! I have taken more pictures than I can count. I mean I have to be pushing close to a million photos over the years. I know you don't see that many but trust me I have taken them. This last trip up to Crater Lake I took some really nice shots, many that I am proud of. But there is one photo that has me thinking it worthy of a name. Let me give you a little back story. I had stopped at one of the turnouts along the rim of the lake, and as normal people aproch me with questions and coments. They see that I am not looking at the lake or photographing Wizard Island, I'm looking over the edge and along the wall, and they ask "What are you taking pictures of?" My normal response is "I'm looking for a picture and if I see one I'll take it." So that was what was going on I had sparked a conversation with a couple and we spoke for about 10 minutes. They asked a lot of questions about the lake and I gave them as much info as I had. While I was talking to them th...

Cater Lake was formed about 7,700 years ago, give or take. The Mountain collapsed in on it's self then over time filled with rain water and snow melt. It is the deepest lake in the U.S. at 1,943 ft. There are no rivers or creeks filling this lake it is all just from snow and rain. There is also no rivers or creeks running out of the lake. There are only Two Islands on the lake, One is called Wizard Island. This is Wizard Iland, shot through the smoke of near by wildfires. It also has a cone at its top, kind of like a crater in a crater thing. If you know what I mean. The other I land is called Phantom Ship Island. I really don't see the ship in its structure, but hey the name is cool none the less. This is a log that is floating in the lake, standing straight up and down, not laying flat like most other logs do. They call it "The Old Man" I make it a point to find it evey time I go.
