Crater Lake and 187

Today I went up to crater Lake. If you haven't seen it yet you really should see it. This wasn't my first time there but it had been many years since my last trip. The weather was perfect. I arived around 7 am it was 48 degrees out and sunny. None of the shops/visiter center were open, but I wasn't there for turist stuff. No I was here for a bird, a bird that is only found at high elevations. More on that in a moment. Let me show you what Crater Lake looks like.
The water is so blus here its crazy, I didn't get to stay to long as the place got packed and I do mean packed. all the parking spaces filled up and most of all the pull offs were pretty much full as well. So no mater where you went there was a lot of people I'm found of rock formations and dead trees, not sure why but thats how it is so I got a few shots of them to toss in.
In the lake itself there is a island named "Wizard Island" its a vent cone if I remember correctly. It has a crater in the top of it. Which is kinda cool as the lake is a crater from a Volcano that blew some 7,700 years ago. The lake is over 1,800 feet deep and you can see to the depth of 143 feet. The widest point across the lake is 6.1 miles. yeah its a big lake to be on top of a mountain. Here is a couple shots of Wizard Iland and its crater.
Now for #187 the bird I came to see. I got there early so I could have time to try to find a good spot for it to be seen. I had snapped a few shots of scenery and was walking down a trail when one just flew in and landed just a few feet away.
I seen a few more as I walked around. These next few pictures I took was at a pull out. There was a young girl there 18-ish I would say with her father and she had a canon camera (which is what I use) but she only had a 35mm lens and she was trying to get photos of a Golden Manteled squirrel. So I offered to let her use my 100-400mm RF lens. Her dad was over the moon pleased that I would let her use the lens. I told him that if shes busy taking photos she wont be getting into trouble and wildlife photography is a great pass time.
Here are a few random shots I took there. The deer are not shy at all, in fact I had to tell it to get back,it was to close for photos.
Well that should do it for today. I'll be heading out tomorrow on a short trip.... we will see what I get.
