Wildlife Safari- Giraffes

So this post will be on Giraffes as the tital suggests. They hold a speical place in my heart as they were my mothers favorite. This is a photo of my mother, where it was taken I'm not sure. But I know she knew what was in the background.
So I was looking forward to getting some headshots of the Giraffes on this trip. On my first lap around the park I didn't see any of them. I wasn't sure if they were just up in the fog which was very heavy or maybe they had them locked up .... I still don't know which one it was but I did see them on my next lap around.
As you can see I did get those headshots. Then I came across one that thought it would be funny!
If you think Giraffes are graceful then you've never seen one get a drink or eat grass. I didn't get a photo of one doing either although the photo above was of one just lifting its head from eating grass from the bank of the road. (Just another photo opp missed for now)
The last photo is a leaner... I had to hang part way out the window to get the shot. They were always so close to the road but I wanted a full body shot. I will have to make another trip there soon. I found a shortcut that takes about 30 minutes off the trip but its full of 20mph curves. Next up will be "Birds" there were so many birds there some were even from here but most are not. Some were just fantastic shots, so tune in for when I get around to posting the next in this series.

Winston Wildlife Safari/New Lens pt. 1

So if you read my last post you know that I traded off some of my camera gear for a new lens. I had to wait until my old gear got to them and they could check it out before they would send me the new lens. Well that was the longest week and a half ever! But the new lens has arrived. It came in late Friday afternoon and I was able to get a couple quick shots that day. I did go out to where I have been getting the Lewis woodpecker shots, but they were camera shy that day. But when I got home the Hummingbirds were more than happy to help me out. The next day I headed to Winston Oregon to the Wildlife Safari. They have a breading program for Cheatahs, They have had way over 200 cubs there and going strong. The Cheatah was the first thing I got to point my camera at. Adventures With Duck starts now

So I have finally taken the jump into retirement. My feet have pushed me into doing this, but I am ready. My last day at work was yesterday (at the time of writing this post) Today and the next few days will be sorting and packing. Then I will head for Oregon which will be my new home. I will be stopping by my brothers place for a few days. He has a project he wants some help with. I like working with him we get shit done as it should be. Then he and I will head to the new place to hang my hat. He knows all the cool spots down there to fish, and if its a good place to fish that means its a good place for wildlife.... That ticks the two best boxes of my world. Now I know I haven't posted on here in a long while, but that was by design. I have been out taking pictures like crazy and have tons to share on here, but not knowing when I will have time to get out when I first get moved I wanted to have plenty of backup content. Here There Be Dragons

So as some of you know I have moved to South western Oregon. Where I live there are tons of places to go for wildlife photos. I have become fond of taking Dragonfy pics and have been learning more about them. For one, they have remained pretty much unchanged for th last 320 million years. The only real change is their size. They went from having a Two foot wingspan to about a 3 inch wingspan. They are also thought to be the most effcient hunters on the planet with a seccess rate of 90 to 95%. What I am going to post here are photos of the Dragons and I will attempt to name them as best I can. Some maybe repeted only because the females of some of the spieces are hard to tell apart. So here we go.... This one is called a "Blue Dasher" and its a female. This one is the male. This one I see often, its a Common Whitetail Dragonfly. It has a wide body compared to the ones above.
