The "Ken Denman" Wildlife Area
So I went on my first "Adventure" Today since moiving down to Southern Oregon. I found a few birds that I didn't expect to see this far North, but no new birds. (I did get some really cool photos though) I didn't how ever get a good shot of the Great tailed Grackle. It was half hidden in the tree so I recorded its call with my bird app and let it make the call. That is what I thought it was but its not a common bird for this area. The second bird that was a surprise I did get some good shots of and here is a couple.
That my friends is one of my favorite birds to photograph. Its call the Green Heron. I had only seen them when I was in Yuma last year. Its cool to know that I can get pics of them only 15 miles from the house.
I did however get a new mammal... Thats right it has fur! Fokes I give you the Black Tailed Jack Rabbit! (He ran right at me I thought he was going to attack.)
Then there was the Tree Swallow
I took these photos after I went to report about not seeing the male Osprey the whole time I was there. They have chicks that you will see below. (Saving the best for last) These are Lesser Goldfinches.
I also added some cool flowers to my collection. ( I don't know what they are besides "Cool".)
And now for the Osprey. They had a nest way up high and I was standing way way back as to not disrupt them... in fact the photos that I am going to share with you are from the other side of the pond whick is over 200 yards away. I was using my R7 that has a cropped sensor (X1.6 factor) plus a 1.4x teleconverter and an 800mm lens which gives me a 1720mm lens with a F stop of 16, so it needs to be bright out to get a good shot. I think I nailed it myself, you tell me what you think of it.
This last photo is a picture of an Osprey chick sticking its head up to see me. Mom had gone off fishing I guess. I was standing about 150 yards away when I took this shot but was using a 600mm lens.
Well thats all for this post. I have so so many photos to share I will be doing more blogging to try to get caught up.
Thanks for stopping by.
