A Half Day At The Oregon Coast

So I just had to make a trip to the coast while I was down here. I wanted to get some photos of the Elephant Seals. Well I got my wish... sort of. They were way out on the rocks and sleeping. The bonus was that there were also California and Northern Sea Lions as well as harbor seals. Even better I got all four in one shot!
I also got the two remaining Cormorants and once again I found an Elk with not only funny antlers but the fact that it was the only one that wasn't in "Velvet" also made it stand out. Seriously, they look like they should be on a mid sized Deer.The second photo is what it should and all the other eight Bulls looked like.
This is just a short post as I'm waiting for the rain to slow down enough to get out and run the shutter a bit. I have several post in my head to post, but I'll do them off and on while I travel. I'm in Bend Oregon today and will be heading East in the morning for a big shoot with some more rare birds that are on my hit list. So I'll see you around my friends.

We interrupt part #2 of "Trip to Turnbull" sort of, yeah its like that

Sorry to jump a blog post ahead on you, but things happen and sometimes its for the better. This is one of those times. I have been planning on getting a new camera for a while now and had been saving up to do just that. Last week though the camera gods smiled on me and I not only was able to get the camera I wanted, I was able to get the lens and adapters and even some extra batteries. Now all this without dipping into my savings so thats a bonus. So now that I got all that I needed to go test it out, so where did I go? Why I went to Turnbull National wildlife resurve naturely. The camera I got is the Canon R7, its a mirrorless crop sensor. So that means that all my EF lenses wouldn't work with the camera inless I put an adapter on the lens. Now when I am spending that kind of money I do my resurch so I new what I needed and how I would configure the camera for my type of photography. Captain Ahab gets his whale (I get my Moose photos)

For over four years I have been trying to get photos of Moose. I know people see moose all the time. I use to see Moose years ago and I never had a camera with me. Now that I don't go out of the city let alone on vacation without at least one camera (not counting my phones) with me, I just couldn't find a Moose to save my life. I went to Yellowstone and the Grand Titons four years in a row and spent at least one full day and most times several days looking for Moose. I would talk to people that had seen a Moose five minutes ago around the corner and I would rush to get that shot. Well that shot never happened. I went through at least 7 tanks of gass hunting this elusive critter. That is until today, today was my day! Not only did I see a Moose when I had a camera, but I saw THREE Moose and had TWO cameras with me. I went to a place called Turnbuul National Wildlife resurve.
