Long trip with poor results, short trip with awesome results

So on Monday I headed out to find some Moose to photograph. 370 miles of driving and couldn't even find a hair of a Moose. Most of the photos I did take were of poor quality, but a few turned out... What can I say it was Monday after all. I will post a few of the good ones below and let you know which is which. I was really disapointed that I didn't see a Moose, they are my white Whale. Everyone sees Moose even I do, but not when I have a cammera. I haven't even seen one with my phone on hand. Although I wouldn't count that as getting photos of Moose anyway. Then today I headed out to Potholes state park in Washington. A place I often go to get shore birds and a few small animals. Today was a good day for that, I got some good pictures of doves but the real kicker was the Coyote that ran out in front of me as I was hiking tyo a place to catch some shore birds. The shore birds were a no show, but I got the pictures of the Coyote instead. Then I was walking around the campsites that were pretty much empty and came across a doe feeding in the shade. A few steps away from her I found a squrrel feeding on a tortia that a careless camper had left behind. Then not long after that I came apon the Raccoon. What a show he put on for me. I don't think he was afraid of me, but he was keeping a close eye on me at all times. I didn't move closer but I did move around the tree as he moved down the tree. The photos above are the ones I was happy with from Monday. They are not the only ones that turned out but there was way more crappy photos than good.
I really like the photo of the two Doves that are looking away from each other. When the second one landed beside the other I couldn;t help snapping a few shots. But that photo to me is they are checking their suroundings making sure its safe. They are very skittish which makes the phot of the single Dove even better. I let me move in close and get around to better light, its not perfect but its the best angle I could get to.
Here are a few other shots I took today. Nothing super cool but nice shots anyway. Here are the ones that made todays trip worth taking!
Sweet right? Sometimes it just works in your favor and today was one of those times. I hope you enjoy the photos, it will be sometime before I head out again as I do work for a living. So I have finally taken the jump into retirement. My feet have pushed me into doing this, but I am ready. My last day at work was yesterday (at the time of writing this post) Today and the next few days will be sorting and packing. Then I will head for Oregon which will be my new home. I will be stopping by my brothers place for a few days. He has a project he wants some help with. I like working with him we get shit done as it should be. Here There Be Dragons

So as some of you know I have moved to South western Oregon. Where I live there are tons of places to go for wildlife photos. I have become fond of taking Dragonfy pics and have been learning more about them. For one, they have remained pretty much unchanged for th last 320 million years. The only real change is their size. They went from having a Two foot wingspan to about a 3 inch wingspan. They are also thought to be the most effcient hunters on the planet with a seccess rate of 90 to 95%. What I am going to post here are photos of the Dragons and I will attempt to name them as best I can. Some maybe repeted only because the females of some of the spieces are hard to tell apart. So here we go.... This one is called a "Blue Dasher" and its a female. This one is the male. This one I see often, its a Common Whitetail Dragonfly. It has a wide body compared to the ones above. Getting Some Fur

As the weather changes and the birds move out of the area as is done every year I get more opportunities to get Animals. I'm not sure why that is but it always works that way. Animals are my number one thing to photograph, birds are just a side gig (except birds of prey). Like today, I only photographed one bird and thats just because I couldn't tell what bird it was. When I checked on my tablet when I got home it was a Blue Jay, nothing e cool. I started on a hike this morning just before 7am. I wanted to get out before it got hot. Yesterday I started aroung 9am planning on a 3 mile hike, which is my norm. It ended up at just over 9 miles. I was really worried that I over did the hike and my feet would be hurting the rest of the day and not be able to walk today. That did not happen.
