A quick trip to the burrowing owls

I decided to take one last rip out to see the owls last night. I don't want to go there to often as it can cause them to move. I never try to get to close as that can also cause them to leave. They will be leaving soon enough as it is. They head south for the winter and I don't blame them. I did get some pretty nice shots that should hold me over until they return next year. Try as I might I have yet to get a good photo of one in flight. They were feeding on bugs that were flying around but they were so close that with a 600mm lens I just couldn't find them in time. They would just fly up and snatch the bug and land so quickly that I wasn't able to get a shot off. But here are a few that I did get.
This week I'm heading over to teach a 10 year old now to use her new camera (she doesn't know she's getting a camera) I love teaching, and teaching kids is even better. I'll do a post on that soon after, so be looking for that. I'm hoping to have some prints ready for sale by next week and I'll do a post on how to get your hands on your favorite pics at a good price. please share this site and leave a comment. So I have finally taken the jump into retirement. My feet have pushed me into doing this, but I am ready. My last day at work was yesterday (at the time of writing this post) Today and the next few days will be sorting and packing. Then I will head for Oregon which will be my new home. I will be stopping by my brothers place for a few days. He has a project he wants some help with. I like working with him we get shit done as it should be. Here There Be Dragons

So as some of you know I have moved to South western Oregon. Where I live there are tons of places to go for wildlife photos. I have become fond of taking Dragonfy pics and have been learning more about them. For one, they have remained pretty much unchanged for th last 320 million years. The only real change is their size. They went from having a Two foot wingspan to about a 3 inch wingspan. They are also thought to be the most effcient hunters on the planet with a seccess rate of 90 to 95%. What I am going to post here are photos of the Dragons and I will attempt to name them as best I can. Some maybe repeted only because the females of some of the spieces are hard to tell apart. Getting Some Fur

As the weather changes and the birds move out of the area as is done every year I get more opportunities to get Animals. I'm not sure why that is but it always works that way. Animals are my number one thing to photograph, birds are just a side gig (except birds of prey). Like today, I only photographed one bird and thats just because I couldn't tell what bird it was. When I checked on my tablet when I got home it was a Blue Jay, nothing e cool. I started on a hike this morning just before 7am. I wanted to get out before it got hot. Yesterday I started aroung 9am planning on a 3 mile hike, which is my norm. It ended up at just over 9 miles. I was really worried that I over did the hike and my feet would be hurting the rest of the day and not be able to walk today. That did not happen. There was some pain in my left foot but not very bad, and this morning it was fine. It was a little chilly as I started out but I knew that with a backpack and two cameras I would be fine unti...
